Four one-of-a-kind crystal art pieces designed and created by Elton John and Lalique raised $410,000 USD at the Academy Awards® Viewing Party auction in Los Angeles with 100% of proceeds benefiting the Elton John AIDS Foundation, a leader in the global effort to end AIDS.
A record-breaking price of $290,000 USD was achieved by the masterpiece Angel Cire Perdue from the ELTON JOHN MUSIC IS LOVE FOR LALIQUE collection. This exceptional sculpture is a male form realized as a winged angel wearing a wedding ring and bearing a harp with the words ‘Music Is Love’ written in Latin on the base. The Angel Cire Perdue was by far the most expensive piece sold of all the auctioned items.
The four unique pieces (the Angel Cire Perdue, the Heart in platinum enameled red crystal, the Heart in gold enameled clear crystal, and the Angel in gold-stamped clear crystal) each signed by Sir Elton John, were auctioned off by premier online auction house Paddle8 and founder Alexander Gilkes. The pieces brought global interest from bidders who were enticed by the opportunity to own one-of-a-kind crystal artworks as well as help benefit EJAF.
