The Italian Trade Commission’s ‘Beauty Made In Italy’ program and Italian Beauty Council hosted a blockbuster panel discussion on ‘Female-Led Italian Beauty Brands.' For decades, the beauty industry has been dominated by male leadership but in recent years, women are emerging as bosses as they pioneer and lead a record number of beauty brands.
Moderating this exciting topic was Samantha Barry, Editor-in-Chief of Glamour who is passionate about issues impacting women today. Panelists included three female beauty executives at the top of their game, leading or founding an Italian beauty brand; Elisa Giraudi, CEO of Perlier, Annalisa Zanoni, Founder at Glamove and Lucrezia Del Papa, Head of Business Development at Olivella. The Ambassador of Italy to the United States, Mariangela Zappia, the first woman in Italy to hold this position joined the discussion virtually to give her support and thoughts towards female-led Italian brands. Antonino Laspina, Trade Commissioner & Executive Director for the USA, Italian Trade Commission also gave remarks about the importance of women in Italian businesses.
This engaging and lively discourse raised unique perspectives on the female leadership landscape as it explored opportunities and challenges in Italy vs the United States for women and highlighted leadership styles, values to impart, obstacles faced and what they are doing to encourage action and foster growth for the next generation of female leaders in Italy.
